We focus on developing projects on marginal and erosion prone land to improve the quality of local waterways, mitigate the risk of extreme weather events and combat climate change.

Kānuka Hill - Uruwhenua Native Regeneration Project

Kānuka Hill is 76.4ha of naturally regenerating indigenous forest located in Uruwhenua, Mōhua (Golden Bay), Aotearoa.

Certified under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme.

Rarakau Rainforest Conservation Project

Aotearoa’s first carbon credits produced from tall indigenous rainforest. This pioneering protect contains 738ha of forest on Māori land in Southland. This project supports community development, biodiversity protection and improved water quality.

Rameka Forest Carbon Project

Indigenous reforestation of 91ha of marginal farmland in Mōhua (Golden Bay), Aotearoa.

A community based initiative where carbon sales go directly to conservation management.

Certified under the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme.

The Pacific projects in Ekos’ supply chain all employ robust frameworks for project governance, financial discipline, monitoring and reporting. This results in significant capacity building for local project owners benefitting them in other economic developments.

Babatana Rainforest Conservation Project

The Babatana Project is protecting 4,027ha of rainforest from logging on Choiseul in the Solomon Islands. Selling carbon credits means the community owners can keep the forest as a long term source of food, building materials, medicine, water and income.

Drawa Rainforest Conservation Project

Award winning project and the first rainforest carbon credits ever to be issued in Fiji. The Drawa project on Vanua Levu protects 4,120ha of rainforest from logging. Community owned, this project has provided resilience against environmental degradation and weather events, sustainable income and seed capital for other spin-off community businesses.

Loru Rainforest Conservation Project

Protecting 166ha of rainforest in Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. This area is home to endangered bird and marine species. The community has given up the right to clear land for coconut plantations in exchange for selling carbon offsets to fund local economic development.

Khasi Hills Community REDD+ Project

The Khasi Hills Community REDD+ Project is situated in the East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, North East India. It engages ten indigenous Khasi governments (hima) with 62 villages. The project aims to preserve sacred groves, other forested area and replant the surrounding degraded land along the Umiam River.
